                  | | A place was rented in the slum called Ram Tekdi and renovated as it was previously a liquor shop for 40 year.   Ram Tekdi is the largest slum in Pune. 90 % of its men do not work and are addicted alcohol and gambling. The women, however either work in houses or are forced into prostitution to get a living.  Many young girls are prone to prostitution.   | |

                    | Most of the children are school drop outs by the age of 9.  So we had started an educational program for these children. We began this program on 1st January 2012 with 22 children and now have grown to 92 children who have registered. We have Sunil Sasane and other volunteers are helping us to teach the children. We also provide snacks to the children after the class. We also have a feeding and nutrition program with the support of BVBC Texas i.e. providing breakfast for these kids.

              | Because of the growing student population SPARSH had to shift to another house. They found a new house in Chandan Gardens and 4 more children were added to the home. And a couple volunteered to work with us full time. And another staff joined as a domestic help. The children were divided into two age groups. The older children along with the staff stayed in one house and the younger children stayed at Kondhwa house along with the couple who were volunteering full time by helping the kids in studies, taking the children to different places to Experience the culture. We conduct talent shows to spot the unique talent in each child and we try our best to bring out the talents in them. |

              | | She pointed towards the sewer. "Please, help my son," she wept in Hindi. She pointed where the men were shooting up. We entered the "shooting gallery" in the sewer. Through the dim light, one man grabbed a clean needle and fled. The eyes of some cried out, “Can I find freedom?” There is a desperate need for a male residential discipleship program for addicts here in Pune.
